Description Description Join the newly established research group of Dr. Mykhailo Batiuk at the Institute of Human Genetics, Heidelberg University Hospital and Heidelberg University. Funded by a prestigious ERC Starting Grant, our interdisciplinary team investigates the biological mechanisms underlying post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). By combining cutting-edge single-nuclei transcriptomics, epigenomics, human post-mortem brain research, and preclinical animal models, we aim to identify novel cell-type-specific therapeutic targets for stress-related psychiatric disorders. As a doctoral researcher, you will work in a highly collaborative international environment, gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art genomic technologies, and contribute to research with the potential to transform future PTSD therapies. Information about the research group is available via the group website: https://www.klinikum.uni-heidelberg.de/humangenetik/forschung/genomics-of-stress-disorders-ag-batiuk Both positions are funded by an ERC Starting Grant and are available from the earliest possible date; start dates are negotiable. Employment: TV-L E13, 66%, fixed-term for 4 years. Please apply via the online portal: https://karriere.klinikum.uni-heidelberg.de/index.php?ac=jobad&id=29229 . Upload (1) curriculum vitae including contact details of two academic direct supervisors, (2) a brief statement of research interests (max. 1 page), (3) university transcripts and degree certificates (Master's if already available). Applications are reviewed upon receipt. Essential requirements: • Strong interest in the molecular mechanisms of stress-related psychiatric disorders • Completed (or nearly completed) Master's degree or equivalent in (molecular) biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, bioinformatics, or a related discipline • Basic knowledge of at least one programming language (Python or R) • Basic wet-lab experience and willingness to perform laboratory experiments • Willingness to work with laboratory animals (certification can be obtained during the position) • Very good written and spoken English • Good interpersonal skills, motivation to work in an interdisciplinary international team
Desirable requirements: • Experience with high-throughput genomics, single-cell RNA-seq, or epigenetics • Animal behavioral phenotyping or experience with rodent models, FELASA B certificate (or equivalent animal-welfare certification) • Strong proficiency in R, Python, bash scripting, or analysis of large-scale genomic datasets
