Description Description Work at the charité Our research group investigates the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of aging, as well as the development of age-related metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, neurodegeneration, and cancer. A particular focus of our research is the role of mitochondrial metabolism and redox-dependent signaling pathways in the regulation of cellular homeostasis, metabolic health, and aging. By defining the molecular mechanisms that link mitochondrial and redox dysregulation to cellular dysfunction and disease, we aim to identify critical pathways and molecular targets that may be exploited for therapeutic intervention. Our findings will provide a mechanistic foundation for the development of innovative preventive and therapeutic strategies to counteract age-related functional decline and disease. Job Overview • Planning, conducting, and evaluating molecular and cell biology experiments • Applying various experimental methods, including cell culture, genome editing, molecular biology, RNA analysis, fluorescence microscopy, recombinant protein expression and purification, and in vitro biochemical assays • Analysis, interpretation, and integration of experimental data using advanced biostatistical and bioinformatic approaches • Communication of research results at relevant international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals • Collaboration within an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented research team • In accordance with §110 (4), sentence 3 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG): Dedicated time within working hours for independent research and scientific qualification, supporting your academic and professional development

That's what we're looking for • An excellent M.Sc. degree or equivalent university degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, Medicine, or a related discipline • A strong interest in the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolism and aging • High motivation and ability to independently pursue and address scientific research questions • Experience in experimental research, particularly in cell culture and/or working with the model organisms C. elegans and mouse, is advantageous • Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm for challenging experimental research • Interest in independent research and in mentoring and supervising students • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration • Very good written and spoken English skills • Strong motivation to further develop scientifically and pursue a doctoral degree

Here's what Charité has to offer • A future-oriented, diverse, and intellectually challenging position offering a high degree of autonomy and responsibility • Comprehensive opportunities for professional and academic development, including a wide range of specialized training and continuing education programs at no cost to employees • Employee discounts and special offers across a broad range of services, including shopping, travel, and sports • Additional retirement benefits through our occupational pension scheme • A family-friendly working environment: Charité has been certified as a family-friendly university and employer since 2007, reflecting our commitment to supporting employees in balancing their professional and personal lives

Job Information • Pay grade E13 TVöD VKA-K • Part-time role: 25 hours per week • The position is on a fixed-term contract for 3 years, as it is linked to the duration of the project • We offer 30 days’ annual leave as standard • The application deadline is in 08.10.2026 • Reference number 8204
