The project builds on the group’s recent groundbreaking discovery of a new mechanism of plant immunity, triggered by the external application of lignocellulose-derived oligosaccharides. The research involves the production of cellulose based biomaterials and their use as elicitors. The project will carry extensive characterization of the plant immune system and signalling events at molecular level.
