The programme supports research stays at the partner institution of up to one year.

Hertie School is proud to announce that it has joined Yale University’s international exchange network. Through the partnership, Hertie School PhD researchers will be able to study and conduct research at Yale University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, while Yale PhD students will have the opportunity to join Hertie School as exchange scholars in Berlin. The exchange programme is open to PhD researchers and supports research stays ranging from three months to one year. Visiting doctoral researchers will become part of the host institution’s academic community, benefiting from access to faculty expertise, research networks, and a dynamic international environment. The programme is open for applications for the Academic Year 2026/2027. Dean of Research and Faculty at the Hertie School Mark Hallerberg comments: “Our exchange programme with Yale University creates an outstanding opportunity for our PhD researchers to engage with one of the world’s leading academic communities, expand their international networks, and strengthen their research through new perspectives and collaborations. At the same time, we look forward to welcoming doctoral researchers from Yale to Berlin. Their ideas, expertise, and scholarly contributions will enrich our intellectual environment and create valuable opportunities for exchange across our community.” The new partnership strengthens Hertie School’s commitment to international research collaboration and academic exchange. By enabling doctoral researchers to engage with leading scholars and institutions on both sides of the Atlantic, the programme will foster new perspectives, research collaborations, and professional networks.
