The Institute for Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is looking to fill the position of a

Research Assistant (PhD student) (f/m/d).

This position should be filled by January 1st 2027 with an initially limited contract of three years. The regular working hours will be 24,4 per week and the salary corresponds to the E13 T V-L (60 %) level. The position is affiliated with the group of Prof. Dr. Manuel Alcarazo, who works on the synthesis and design of new catalysts and reagents based on transition metals and main group elements. Specifically, the successful candidate will be involved in the development of new metal-free catalytic transformations and the development of their synthetic applications.

We are looking for an outstanding chemist with strong theoretical background and experience working in both organic synthesis and organometallic chemistry. A master degree in chemistry is a mandatory requirement. Expertise in analytical and spectroscopic tools, as well as proven experience in the synthesis of sensitive compounds under inert atmosphere using Schlenck techniques are fundamental. The ideal candidate is expected to be creative, capable to work independently, and team player. Excellent communication (in German and English) and organizatorial skills are also requested.

We offer a supportive and motivating environment with state of the art facilities, the possibility to actively participate in the design of your own project, advanced career support, and a competitive salary.

Göttingen is a lively university city in central Germany, which hosts numerous internationally renowned research institutions, including not only the famous University but also its Medical Center, several Max Planck Institutes, the European Neuroscience Institute, the German Primate Center, and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience (BCCN).
